Flame Zone

This Eco Lodge draws on the aesthetics, energy and geography of the site to inform the design. Taking initial inspiration from the contours then, through abstraction, it begins to break away as if parts of the building are being pulled away by the currents in the river. Lodge Dislodge eco resort is a modern luxurious place offering different experiences and highlighting natural elements on the site. The spaces within the lodge transform from anchored in the earth to floating above the water. The theme for the final design is opposites; Heavy vs. Light, Water on Land vs. Land on Water and Fragile vs. Indestructible.

The brief :: The key aim from this studio was to design a building in a Flame Zone. Working with two other group members, Emily Stubbe and Sher-reen Lim, we developed a closed circuit wall and facade system that self monitors and maintains a constant temperature inside the building whilst protecting the main building from the eminent threat of fire.
